Tbilisi City Hall joins liver transplantation state program. Such a statement made today the Mayor of the capital.
“Number of healthcare programs get funded by the City Hall. One of the prominent initiatives is the liver transplant program, being implemented by the Department of Health and Social Services since 2018. Initially, the program provided financial assistance to citizens in need of a liver transplant by covering 50% of the determined service fee.
Later on, this funding was increased by 10,000 GEL, totaling 70,000 GEL. If the cost of a liver transplant operation amounted to 120,000 GEL, the City Hall subsidized individuals residing in Tbilisi with 70,000 GEL. The same program was also implemented in Batumi. Recently, we were informed of the Prime Minister"s decision to expand this program nationwide, and we warmly welcome this news. Under the new arrangement, the state will provide 100% of the funding - a decision we fully support. This change will take effect on July 1 of this year”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
