Professionals from the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation gathered in Tbilisi for the meeting of their Tourism Working Group and a capacity-building workshop.
The meeting focused on the Silk Road project - designed to improve trade, drive investment in infrastructure and boost connectivity across Asia - and promoted regional cooperation, the Ministry said.
The Asian Development Bank, one of the supporters of the programme of the events, said the gathering included a discussion on the CAREC Tourism Web Portal - a platform showcasing “key features”, country information and tourist sites along the Silk Road. Besides, a capacity building programme for public and private sectors was presented with the aim of enhancing tourism expertise.
CAREC is a partnership of 10 countries and aims to promote economic cooperation and development in the region, with Georgia designated as the Chair Country for this year’s gatherings.
