Prime Minister participates in round-table discussions within the scope of Council of Europe Summit

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili participated in round-table discussions themed as “Safeguarding democracy in testing times-risks, resilience, and recommitment,” within the scope of the 4th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe.

Irakli Garibashvili spoke about the challenges facing the world and the urgent need to overcome them.

According to the Head of Government, despite the existing challenges, Georgia’s democracy is sustainable, because the country remains committed to such values underpinning democracy as freedom, equality, and the rule of law.

Prime Minister spoke of the Government’s efforts toward protecting democratic institutions and human rights and pointed out that these efforts are fully compatible with the 12 priorities defined for Georgia to receive the candidate status, and that the progress achieved by Georgia so far in this regard calls for relevant response from the EU.
