Irakli Garibashvili meets Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark

Prime Minister of Georgia met Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark today.

Irakli Garibashvili thanked the visiting dignitary for the consistent support of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia by Denmark. Steps made by the country for gaining the status of an EU Candidate Country were discussed at the meeting.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark reassured Prime Minister in the firm support of the kingdom to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Meeting was focused on the current relations enjoyed by the two countries, including energy, defense, tourism and other areas. Other potential avenues were also discussed for deepening cooperation further by and between Georgia and Denmark.

Focus was made on the significance of developing trade and economic relations. Also, the favorable investment environment of Georgia was highlighted.

The Head of Government of Georgia also underlined the significance of opening an Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Tbilisi.

Meeting was attended by Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen, Permanent Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs; Karen Clement, Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Henrik Winther, Director of EU Neighborhood Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark; H.E. Anne Toft Sørensen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Georgia. Attendees from the Georgian side included Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration; H.E. Nata Menabde, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark.
