Irakli Garibashvili meets Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The conversation at the meeting focused on the relations between the two countries and prospects of future cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

During the conversation at the meeting, the importance of holding the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was underlined.

Special emphasis was placed on the messages voiced at the conference, most of which represent values shared by more than one country.

The parties discussed prospects of deepening the economic cooperation between Georgia and Hungary in the areas of trade, investments, tourism, and agriculture. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the country remains committed to the goal of tapping into the full potential of further cementing economic cooperation with Hungary.

Georgia’s EU integration perspective was discussed at the meeting. The importance of Hungary’s statement in support of granting the candidate status to Georgia was highlighted. According to Irakli Garibashvili, a large portion of the recommendations has been implemented and, in light of the progress achieved, Georgia deserves the candidate status, which the country expects by the end of this year.

After the meeting, a working dinner was held on behalf of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to honor Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Georgia’s delegation.
