Passengers will be able to pay in a taxi using QR Code from May 22. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“As of today, taxi fares can only be paid in cash, as drivers do not have access to bank terminals. The company BKN301 Georgia has made an interesting proposal. I think this is an innovative and fast method of receiving payments using QR code. It can be linked to any person’s account number.

QR codes will be placed on the backs of car seats or on some other places. This will allow passengers to scan the code using their mobile phones and instantly pay the fare, with the driver receiving the payment directly into their bank account.

If desired, drivers will obtain codes from May 22, 2023 at various service centers of the Capital city. In particular, Tbilisi City Hall Service Center - Zh. Shartava str. N7; Samgori Service Center - Moscow Avenue N14; Gldani Service Center - D. Sarajishvili st. N1”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
