Journalists stand vigilant to inform the public and hold institutions and those in power accountable. A free and vibrant press is essential to ensuring “government of the people, by the people, for the people.

The United States Embassy honors the members of press in Georgia who work to inform the public and hold institutions accountable in the face of violence and threats of violence, politically motivated prosecution and imprisonment, and other pressure. Any effort to undermine or silence the media is an attack on democracy itself”, - reads the statement of the Embassy.
