Three sailors, including 2 Georgian citizens, were kidnapped from a ship in Gabon’s territorial waters. Such a statement was released by the Maritime Transport Agency.

“The representatives of the agency have already contacted the family members and provided detailed information. The sailors remaining on board are not in danger.

The Maritime Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is actively working, including with crewing and ship-owning companies, to release the sailors from captivity.

Based on the safety of Georgian sailors, we urge you to refrain from disseminating details and any kind of personally identifiable information through the media”, - reads the statement of the agency.
