
Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met with the leadership of the Rugby Union to discuss the development of rugby infrastructure and the existing plans in this direction. During the meeting, they reviewed a 2-billion GEL project aimed at creating new infrastructure for both elite and grassroots sports.
The discussion also covered the new ultra-modern stadium project in Tbilisi, which will have a capacity of 70 000 spectators and will enable Georgia to host top-tier football and rugby tournaments.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of promoting youth rugby and improving accessibility to infrastructure for young players. It was noted that the construction of stadiums in more than 40 municipalities will play a key role in this effort. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, sports infrastructure must meet the growing demand both in the capital and across the regions, which will help promote a healthy lifestyle among children and young people. Additionally, the meeting touched upon the achievements of Georgian rugby and upcoming international tournaments to be hosted in the country.
