Donald Trump said he had a great conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin

US President said he had a great conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

“I think we had a great call, it lasted almost two hours, talked about a lot of things and toward getting it to peace. Russia has the advantage. As you know, they have encircled about 2500 [Ukrainian] soldiers”, - Donald Trump told Fox News in an interview.

Yesterday, March, 18, he held a conversation with Vladimir Putin. They discussed the issue of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, the conditions for preventing escalation, and a number of international issues. The Russian president supported the US leader’s proposal that Russia and Ukraine refrain from strikes on energy facilities.

The sides also agreed to launch “technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace”, the White House said in a statement.

As the Kremlin added, “the key condition for preventing the escalation of the conflict and working on its redirection to a political and diplomatic settlement must be a complete halt to foreign military assistance and the provision of intelligence to Kiev”.
