Mikheil Kavelashvili appointed Manuchar Kokochashvili as a member of the High Council of Justice for 4 years

The President of Georgia has appointed Manuchar Kokochashvili as a member of the High Council of Justice [HCoJ].

Mikheil Kavelashvili annulled an illegal legislative act from June 21, 2024, under which former President Salome Zourabichvili appointed Kakha Tsikarishvili to the same position on July 14, 2024.

A candidate who participated in the competition filed a complaint against this decision in the Tbilisi City Court.

The evidence presented in the case revealed that Tsikarishvili’s appointment to the HCoJ was marred by procedural violations, leading the court to uphold Kokochashvili’s complaint.

Following a thorough review of the candidates involved in the announced competition and conducting interviews, Mikheil Kavelashvili made his decision within the legal framework granted to him.
