No terrorist incidents occurred in Georgia in 2024, country continues to maintain a secure environment - State Security Service responds on the IEP report

The State Security Service of Georgia responded to the Global Terrorism Index 2025 published by Institute for Economics and Peace.

“The authoritative international organisation, the Institute for Economics and Peace, has released its annual report - the Global Terrorism Index 2025 - which is a comprehensive analytical document on the impact of terrorism worldwide.

According to the report, Georgia remains among the countries with zero impact from terrorism. Alongside Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, and numerous other nations, Georgia ranks at the bottom of the Index, signifying that no terrorist incidents occurred in the country in 2024, and it continues to maintain a secure environment.

In terms of freedom from terrorism, Georgia is ahead of the G7, EU and NATO member states, including the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, etc.

The analysis of the Global Terrorism Index that over the past 10 years, Georgia had shown significant progress in the fight against terrorism. During this period, Georgia improved its overall score by 1,933 points and took the highest point among the positions considered in the report. The country has successfully maintained a zero impact of terrorism indicator in recent years”, - reads the statement.
