Verdict on Mikheil Saakashvili’s illegal border crossing to be announced on March 17

The judge will announce the verdict on Mikheil Saakashvili’s case, regarding the illegal crossing of the state border, on March 17. The judge went into recess during today’s hearing.

Procedurally, Saakashvili was supposed to have the last word at today’s hearing, however, he refused to be included remotely from the Viva Medi clinic due to health reasons.

The former president has been charged under Article 344 of the Criminal Code, which refers to illegal border crossing. The investigation began on October 1, 2021.
