Statement by 4 political groups in Bundestag, which states that the OSCE/ODIHR long-term observation mission was not allowed to observe the Georgian parliamentary elections, is false

The parliamentary groups of the Bundestag spread unverified and false information in a statement regarding the ongoing processes in Georgia.

The statement claimed that the long-term monitoring mission of the OSCE/ODIHR had not been allowed to Georgia during the parliamentary elections held on October 26. In fact, the OSCE/ODIHR opened an election observation mission in Georgia one month before the parliamentary elections.

The organisation also published information about this on its official website on September 12, 2024.

“The mission is headed by Eoghan Murphy and consists of a core team of 12 international experts based in Tbilisi and 30 long-term observers, who will be deployed throughout the country from 19 September. ODIHR will request 350 short-term observers to arrive several days before election day. Observers will closely monitor all key aspects of the elections, including developments before and after election day”, - reads the statement of OSCE/ODIHR.
