The German Embassy in Georgia expressed condolences to the family of the victims and the Georgian people following the tragedy in the village of Saberio.

“Today, January 9, the flag at the German Embassy is at half-mast. The unimaginable tragedy in the village of Saberio has deeply shaken us. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and the Georgian people during this difficult time”, - says the Embassy.

The Government of Georgia declared January 9 a National Day of Mourning to honour the victims of the fire in Saberio, located in the occupied Gali district. The tragedy claimed the lives of 5 children.
