Employees of the regional forestry services of the National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture have identified 721 violations of the law this year. During the year, 619 cases of illegal logging and transportation of timber have been identified, including unregistered sawmills. The volume of resources stored in "business yards" amounted to 1,125 cubic meters. Employees of the regional forestry services have also identified 78 cases of arbitrary detention of the State Forest Fund and 24 cases of various administrative violations.
"Among the identified violations are facts that contain signs of a criminal offense. In order to identify violations of the law, monitoring, along with patrols, is also carried out using camera traps and drones placed in the state forest. We will actively continue working in this direction in the future", - said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze.
