The fact that we are here, 7 members of the European Parliament from different political groups and those who have responsibilities on Georgian file in the European Parliament, it means a lot. Such a statement made today MEP Rasa Juknevičienė after meeting with the President Salome Zourabichvili.
“We would like to show solidarity with those who are waving, keeping EU flags in the streets and fighting for what is in Georgia’s constitution, its Euro-Atlantic path, and Georgia now is with the candidacy status country, with the candidacy status for EU membership in the future. So standards are very high for such requirements.
We are here as a fact-finding mission to see the situation on the ground, and, of course, our meetings are very important to find the right conclusion after our mission.
So, we would like the EU to act and to be more vocal and supportive. Because we think, we feel, we know that Georgia is a European country. We are here, not to support any particular political party, but we are here to support Georgia as a state, which is under very crucial times now and very important times”, - said Rasa Juknevičienė.
