Élysée Palace released the information about phone conversation held between President Emmanuel Macron and Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chair of the Georgian Dream.

“The President of the Republic initiated a discussion with Bidzina Ivanishvili.

President Macron condemned the intimidation of civil society representatives and the opposition, as well as the violence by law enforcement against peaceful protesters and journalists. He called for the release of all individuals who have been arbitrarily arrested and called for respect for freedom of expression and assembly.

Once again, President Macron expressed regret that Georgia has deviated from its European trajectory and reiterated his belief that the relationship between the European Union and Georgia would necessarily be influenced by the decisions that have been or will be made.

Emmanuel Macron called for inclusive dialogue with all political parties and representatives of civil society, respecting the European and democratic aspirations of the Georgian people, which he once again commended”, - reads the statement.
