At Paris Paralympics, you embody the best qualities of our people and represent the unbroken and invincible spirit of the Georgian nation - Kobakhidze to the Paralympic team of Georgia

At the Paris Paralympics, you embody the best qualities of our people and represent the unbroken and invincible spirit of the Georgian nation, said the Prime Minister of Georgia at the farewell ceremony for Paralympic athletes heading to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

“You are already winners heading into the Paralympic Games. However, I believe we can achieve even more, and I am confident that this Paralympics will be a success for our team.

You are entrusted with a significant mission at the upcoming Paris Paralympics. Your embodiment of the finest qualities of our people serves as a representation of the unyielding and indomitable spirit of the Georgian populace.

The members of the Paralympic team had triumphed over adversities and obstacles that may seem unfathomable to many. With your talent, patience, and diligence, you have demonstrated to others that nothing is impossible, and achieving everything is possible.

You know that the Government does a lot to help Georgian sports in general, including Paralympic sports. Until 2012, we had only 3 athletes in 2 sports, the Paralympic sports are gradually developing, and today the Paralympic Committee unites 350 athletes competing in 15 sports.

The result of this is that today we have such a figure at the Paralympic Games in Paris - 14 para-athletes will be represented in 6 sports, which is a record figure.

One of the expressions of our support for sports was that we made a promise to our Olympians regarding bonuses. As you know, GEL 1 million bonus is set for our Olympians for a gold medal, GEL 500 000 for a silver medal and GEL 250 000 for a bronze medal.

Of course, there will be exactly the same bonuses for your success at the Paralympic Games.

I would like to wish you once again the best of luck. Our eyes will be directed towards you from the beginning to the end, and I am sure that we will return to Tbilisi victorious”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
