Provocations are planned to discredit the rally and various groups are present on the spot, said today one of the organizers of the protest in Rioni gorge Varlam Goletiani.

“At the rally representatives of conflicting parties tend to gather. Clashes are in the Government’s interests, and we have already warned the police concerning clashes likely to break out.

In order to prevent and avoid crashes, we state that we distance ourselves from the process as we are participants of the peaceful rally. If conflicting parties arrive at the rally site and confront each other or the police, we will head for the area where we have tents. We distance ourselves from everyone who will try to drag peaceful protests through the mud”, - said Varlam Goletiani.

Anti-Namakhvani HPP protesters have been holding rallies for several months. Protesters demand the Economy Minister’s resignation and direct involvement of the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in the negotiation process.
