The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs [MIA] are mobilized in order to maintain the rule of law throughout Georgia, in the vicinity of the protests held in different cities, reads the statement of the agency.
“At the protest rally taking place on Rustveli Avenue, in the vicinity of the Parliament, cases of illegal expression of protest can already be observed from the side of rally participants.
Some of the gathered people damage the infrastructure on the ground, herewith, participants of the rally have various dangerous items with them, which may be used for violent actions, similar to the past days practice.
Georgian legislation protects the right to assembly, demonstration and expression, as well as defines the forms of protest in order to protect public order and security.
We warn participants of the rally, whose actions went beyond the forms of protest stipulated by law, to stop illegal actions, protest within the frames defined by law, otherwise, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will take appropriate measures defined by law. Each illegal action will be followed by appropriate legal response from the police”.
