Coast Guard Day was celebrated at the Coast Guard Department base in Poti by the MIA Border Police of Georgia. The Ceremony was opened by the Head of Border Police, Major-General Nikoloz Sharadze alongside with the Director of the Coast Guard Department, Captain Ramaz Papidze with remarks of congratulation on the Professional Day to all Servicemen and women of the Coast Guard Department.
“Congratulations on the Professional Day! Georgian Coast Guard has a noble history and future with full of opportunities. Coast Guard, as an important actor and maritime stakeholder in our country is a key player in ensuring the maritime security at sea. Today, Coast Guard as the multi mission Service entity is actively engaged with Partners around the Black Sea and beyond, while the area of cooperation is ranging from naval-military to maritime law enforcement frameworks.
As in previous years, employees of the Coast Guard Department will be fully engaged in participating/contributing to international missions and multinational maritime exercises. I wish all the success to each and every employees complementing to the mentioned activities.
Development of a strong, modernized and capable Coast Guard is one of the biggest priority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. He awarded 20 employees of the Coast Guard Department for their exceptional service and achieved success.
Coast Guard Day was attended by the heads of the various structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other respective Agencies in the country.
Upon accomplishment the Ceremony, the Head of the Border Police and the Director of the Coast Guard Department attended Wreath Lying Ceremony at the remembrance memorial of brave fallen Georgian comrades during the War in August 2008.
