The Legal Issues Committee discussed with the I reading the Bill on Road Traffic and the accompanying bills.

According to the reporter, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze, the package ensures the improvement of the transport policy in the Capital. As the Bill stipulates, the drivers of the taxi (Category M1) will enjoy the power to move or park in the minibus line to pick/drop off the passengers. M. Bitadze stated that these areas shall be designated for safe movement and uninterruptedness of public transport.

The second part of the changes serves for the elimination of the problems detected in practice on parking, namely, the parking of a vehicle in the parking lot within Tbilisi municipal borders without the payment of the fee shall entail the penalty of 50 GEL instead of 10. The Bill envisages the penalty of 20 GEL for the ticket evasion in the land e-transport, underground e-transport, cableway or regular public transport.

As the reporter noted, other than all procedures under the Law, the changes envisage the e-penalty receipts to the owner of a vehicle. The Bills are initiated by the Faction “Georgian Dream”.
