According to the Ministry of Health, the first batch of coronavirus medicine Paxlovid has already arrived in Georgia.

“Paxlovid is the first most effective medicine against COVID-19. It limits the ability of the virus to multiply. If Paxlovid is used as soon as the infection is confirmed, the disease cannot progress, which reduces the risk of hospitalization.

The Ministry of Health, together with experts, has already developed a protocol, according to which, the priority patients have been identified.

The decision to prescribe the medicine will be made by the patient’s family doctor and it will be delivered at home”, - reads the statement of Health Ministry.

Paxlovid was developed by the Pfizer company. The medicine is recognized both by the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency. The drug is already used in the US and Europe.
