I think that no later than in May, early May, we should have a peace agreement, maybe much earlier - Oleksiy Arestovich, adviser to the Ukrainian president

The war could end by early May when the Russian military runs out of necessary resources to continue its invasion of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovich, adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, claimed.

According to Reuters, Arestovich said an end date depends on the resources the Kremlin puts into the invasion, adding: “I think that no later than in May, early May, we should have a peace agreement, maybe much earlier, we will see, I am talking about the latest possible dates”.

Arestovich, who has not directly been involved in peace talks, said either a peace deal would be worked out within a week or two - with Russia withdrawing its troops, or there will be attempts to bring in Syrian fighters for “round two” who will also be ground down, followed by an agreement by mid or late April. Another possibility could see conscripts with little training sent to fight, he added.

The basis of Arestovich’s claims remain unclear but questions about Russia’s ability to support a long drawn out campaign has been questioned by some experts.
