A member of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s special Ukraine monitoring mission was killed on Tuesday during the shelling of Kharkiv, the OSCE said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the OSCE named the victim as Maryna Fenina, and said she had died “while getting supplies for her family in a city that has become a war zone”.
A black flag has been put up at the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna in commemoration. The OSCE has denounced Russia’s military action against Ukraine and strongly condemns its shelling of civilian areas.
Kharkiv, the country’s second city, has come under intense shelling by Russian forces, with police and university buildings bombarded and government offices reduced to rubble.
