Putin bans export of foreign currency cash over USD 10,000

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree banning the export of foreign currency cash over USD 10,000 starting on March 2.

“The export of foreign currency cash and foreign currency instruments over USD 10,000 calcuated based on the official exchange rate set by the Russian Central Bank on the day of export will be banned starting on March 2”, - reads the decree.

Russian president had signed a document “On Additional Temporary Economic Measures to Ensure Russia’s Financial Stability”. In his decree, Putin explains this and other restrictive measures by “unfriendly and contrary to international law actions of the United States of America and foreign states and international organizations that have joined them”.
