Korneli Salia from the opposition Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia party became the Chairman of Tsalenjikha Municipal Council.

He received 14 of the 15 opposition ballots cast in secret voting, as 1 vote was voided. The Georgian Dream’s councilors refused to participate in the election.

In the 27-member Sakrebulo, Georgian Dream and United National Movement each have 11 councilors, Lelo has 1, For Georgia has 3, and 1more member is independent.

After being elected to the post, Salia said that he plans to name 1 member each from the ruling team, UNM and Lelo as his deputies.

“As for the Sakrebulo Commissions, the majority of their chairs shall be from the opposition, but the Georgian Dream will also be offered several seats”, - added Korneli Salia.
