The Kiev Ministry of Education and Research said on its Facebook page that the ministry’s website was temporarily down after the “widespread” attack. In addition, the websites of the Ministry for Emergency Situations and the Cabinet were not available.

It was not even possible to access the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Early in the morning, the words “Be afraid and expect the worst” were temporarily read there in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish.

A police unit specializing in cyberattacks has initiated the investigation, the Energy Department said. It is not clear who is behind the attack.
