President of Georgia is hosting both ruling party and opposition politicians for New Year ceremony, seizing an opportunity to stress the need for political de-polarization and “national reconciliation.”

At the reception Salome Zourabichvili talked about the need to change “political atmosphere” after political crises in the country.

“This reception has its purpose, which is to change the atmosphere a bit and bring a new mood.

This is just the first step, even standing together, it is positive and can be perceived positively by our society, which is experiencing very much the endless polarization, the tension that has actually stopped our country. Therefore, I think it is timely to start this process.

Our state is 30 years old and it is time for us to step out of the youth circle and move on to a more mature new policy. There were a lot of events and we went through very difficult processes, where there was a total confrontation, two or more camps and a civil confrontation. Nobody wants us to see a recurrence”, - said the President.
