Istanbul and Ankara were flooded with spontaneous protest

Istanbul and Ankara were flooded with spontaneous protest after the great devaluation of the Turkish lira.

Protesters shouted slogans demanding that the government resign and that the ruling Justice and Development Party step down.

Police dispersed the crowd.

The Turkish currency set an anti-record today - it fell from 11.37 to 13.21 lira per USD. According to the Turkish financial analyst Arda Tundzha, such a big drop in one day is the biggest in the last two decades.
