Prime Minister launches the construction of Kutaisi’s Olympic-standard swimming pool

Prime Minister of Georgia launched the construction of Kutaisi’s Olympic-standard swimming pool by burying a time capsule in its foundation.

“Today is a very important day because Kutaisi will soon, in a year, have a modern-standard Olympic-size swimming pool, which is very important to our Kutaisi and especially our athletes. I know that Kutaisi has many great traditions, and Kutaisi has raised many prominent athletes, notably water polo players, for our country, the reason why Kutaisi deserves such a high-level swimming pool. I would like to thank the Asian Development Bank and its representative in Georgia for their active support in the implementation of such important projects. Besides in Kutaisi, we will build similar top-notch swimming pools in Zugdidi, Akhaltsikhe, and Rustavi. I am confident that many famed athletes will emerge here”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.

The swimming pool meets modern standards in full. According to the project, the Olympic-standard swimming pool will be 50 meters in length and 25 meters in width. This sports complex will offer athletes special services for rebuilding strength and rehabilitation after injury, among others. Besides in Kutaisi, modern-standard sports complexes will be built concurrently in Akhaltsikhe, Rustavi and Zugdidi.
