21 days of protest - employees of flour milling plant in Ozurgeti are demanding salary increase, improved working conditions

Workers of Ozurgeti-based flour milling plant Gulistani have been striking for the last 21 days, protesting among others over pay cuts.

According to the employees, the company pays them GEL 400 per month, which is GEL 250 lower than the salary on paper.

The striking workers said that multiple negotiations with the company failed, with the latter now planning to bring in new workers tomorrow with police backing to continue production, instead of meeting their demands.

Rally participants are not going to resume work until their demands are fully met.

The plant is run by Guria Express LLC, fully owned by Ismail Bölükbaş, a citizen of Turkey. The company didn’t commented on this issue yet.
