Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held a videoconference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The meeting focused on Georgia-Ukraine friendship and strategic partnership grounded in centuries-old historical and good-neighborly relations.

Special emphasis was put on Georgia’s and Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the importance of boosting cooperation in this direction.

The Prime Minister thanked his Georgian counterpart for supporting Ukraine in the international arena, in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

The Head of Georgian Government, in discussing Russia’s recent buildup near Ukraine’s borders and temporarily occupied Crimea, reiterated the Georgian side’s concern over the ongoing developments and reaffirmed Georgia’s strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

The conversation also covered the trade and economic relations between Georgia and Ukraine, pointing out the importance of joint efforts toward further developing and deepening the economic cooperation between the two countries.

The parties, while reviewing progress toward NATO integration, highlighted accession to the Alliance as one of the key priorities of the two countries" foreign and security policies. In this context, they pointed out cooperation on Black Sea security and the importance of Black Sea security for ensuring common Euro-Atlantic security.

The Georgian Prime Minister invited his Ukrainian counterpart for an official visit to Tbilisi at his convenience.
