Interagency Coordination Council rules to extend vaccination program

Members of the Government and Parliament of Georgia will be getting engaged in the process of vaccination from the current week. The Inter-Agency Coordination Council has ruled to engage people working in the tourism industry and hospitality sector at large as priority groups for vaccination, along with drivers and conductors of public transport.

Council discussed today the concept of a so-called Green Passports, which will be issued to people upon full course of vaccination. Active work is progressing on the matter and its output will be submitted to the Coordination Council for endorsement in the nearest future. In addition, introduction of various types of concessions to fully vaccinated individuals is being discussed.

Focus of the Council was made on the rising community transfer rate both in Georgia and worldwide. It was noted that the system is ready even for a negative scenario and the Government of Georgia is fully managing the process.

As commonly known, municipal transport has been suspended nation-wide through May 12, 2021 in relation with public holidays. This measure, along with the announcement of public holidays is aimed at a greater reduction of mobility and at curbing the viral spread.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council once again urges the population to comply with the imposed restrictions and help the prevention of the viral spread by uniform wearing of face masks and social distancing.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council continues to monitor the current epidemic trends and will be taking further decisions on the grounds of detailed analysis of the situation.

Since the first case of COVID, 313 742 lab-proven cases have been detected in the country, out of which 295 458 individuals have recovered and 4 183 - died.

Currently, 89 individuals are kept in quarantine, 788 - at clinical hotels, while 4 209 - at healthcare facilities under medical supervision.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia actively engages Parliament of Georgia chaired by MP Kakha Kuchava, and Administration of the President of Georgia.
