Shalva Lomidze has been appointed Head of the Intelligence Service

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia has appointed Shalva Lomidze as the Head of the Intelligence Service of Georgia. The Head of Government of Georgia held a working meeting with the newly appointed official today.

The geopolitical situation in the region and the existing security challenges were discussed at the meeting.

So far, Lomidze has been the Acting Head of the Intelligence Service. In 2014-2020 he served as the First Deputy Head of the Intelligence Service; At various times he was the Head of the Main Division of the Information and Analytics Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He has worked in various positions in the Counterintelligence Department of the Agency, as well as in the Counterintelligence Service of the State Security Service.
