The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative and investigative police activities detained several people in Batumi on the basis of the relevant court decision. The detainees are as follows: R. Ts. (DoB 1987), F.Ts. (DoB 1993), T.C. (DoB 1997), T.Ch (DoB 1995), G.Ch (DoB1999), And I.C.(DoB 2000). The mentioned persons were arrested on the charges of organization and participation in violence committed in group.

The committed crime envisages from 4 to 6 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that detainees committed group violence and physically assaulted three people during the protest rally against the construction of Namakhvani Hydro Power Plant in Gumathesi settlement in Kutaisi on April 12 of the current year. Detainees have also damaged a vehicle owned by one of the victims.

The investigation on the fact of organization and participation in group violence is in progress under Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
