The parliamentary majority has prepared new constitutional amendments to lower the electoral threshold from 5 to 3%.

The adoption of the constitutional amendments requires 113 MPs’ support. At the moment, the ruling party has 90 deputies in the legislature, the opposition Citizens has 2 and European socialists 4 which is not enough to endorse the changes.

The current constitution stipulates a 5% threshold for the 2024 parliamentary elections.

The draft law will be initiated in the Parliament in the coming days.
