The officers of Chiatura police division under Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, as a result of immediate operative-search and investigative activities detained two persons: previously convicted R.A. (DoB 1985) and G.N. (DoB 1991) for unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities committed with violence.

Committed crime envisages up to 2 years of imprisonment.

Investigation established that on February 15 of the current year, in the village of Shukruti, Chiatura municipality the journalist and cameraman of Kutaisi regional bureau of “Media Holding Kvira” were subjected to verbal and physical assault and unlawful interference in their professional activities. After the incident detainees fled from the place of crime.

Both offenders were detained by police several hours later after the crime took place.

Investigation is in progress on the fact of unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities, article 154, II part of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
