51 opposition MPs still retain their mandates

The issue of abolition of power for the opposition MPs fell on the Parliament.

Voting has just ended. It means that 51 opposition lawmakers retain their seats.


Earlier today the Georgian Dream decided 2 to refrain from terminating the mandates of 51 opposition MPs at today’s Plenary Session.


The Chairman of the ruling party announced the decision after holding a meeting with fellow members at the Georgian Dream central office. Irakli Kobakhidze argued the decision will serve as a “constitutional instrument” against attempted “sabotage” by opposition MPs, who have applied to have their mandates terminated.
