Out of 2 316 new cases, 961 have been detected in Tbilisi

2 316 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council.


“Within the scope of intensive testing 14 511 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 9 300 were antigen-based express test method and 5 211 PCR.


2 316 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 232 079 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.


382 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 222 787.


Unfortunately, 18 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 2 646.


Out of 2 316 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 961 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 125 - in Adjara, 420 - in Imereti, 142 - in Kvemo Kartli, 154 - in Shida Kartli, 40 - in Guria, 201 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 185 - in Kakheti, 57 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 16 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 15 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.


At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 6 620, out of which 4 012 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 944 are stationed in Tbilisi, 365 - in Adjara and 763 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 888 patients, out of which 383 are based in Tbilisi, 93 - in Adjara and 208 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 287 patients, out of which 171 are stationed in Tbilisi, 22 - in Adjara and 36 - in Imereti. 763 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 213 are based in Tbilisi, 457 - in Adjara and 26 - in Imereti. 1 845 individuals are treated at home.


377 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 144 are located in Tbilisi, 46 - in Adjara and 64 - in Imereti.


In total, 21 208 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6, 2020 through January 4, 2021.


At present, 24 689 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 15 021 are based in Tbilisi, 1 970 - in Adjara and 2 473 - in Imereti”, - said Berdia Sichinava.
