14,000 metric tons of high-quality U.S. wheat delivered to the Port of Poti as part of the USDA Food for Progress program

The ship Ocean Grand delivered 14,000 metric tons of high-quality U.S. wheat to the Port of Poti as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture"s (USDA) Food for Progress program. This shipment, the first of three in the coming month, will be ​available for private sector usage via commercial sales on the Georgian market.


“The proceeds of the sales will be invested into a USDA agricultural development program to improve Georgian farmers’ and processors’ productivity and efficiency and improve food safety and quality along Georgia’s dairy and beef value chains. Food for Progress reaffirms the U.S. commitment to supporting Georgia through expert partnerships that build a sustainable, diverse economy”, - reads the statement of the U.S. Embassy.
