Akaki Khuskivadze and Akaki Kobaladze, charged with offering a bribe and coercing the late head of Isani No. 5 district election commission (DEC) Tevdore Gobejishvili have each been released on GEL 10 000 bail.

As Kobaladze told journalists that the ruling was unexpected: “This was a glimmer of hope making me think that justice may be served in this country”.

Khuskivadze said that evidence was tempered in this case, and everyone could see this perfectly well. He thanked the public, friends, political parties, the NGOs for their backing.

Georgian police detained Khuskivadze and Kobaladze on November 8 - the day after Gobejishvili was found dead in his apartment in Tbilisi. The MIA reported that the two individuals had offered the late DEC chair USD 50,000 on behalf of United National Movement if he would demonstratively quit in front of media and speak about the election fraud.
