The woman who sustained injuries in a fire in the temporarily occupied village of Saberio, located in the Gali district, was visited by the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.

Levan Mgaloblishvili visited the patient at the Kutaisi Referral Hospital, where he met with both the patient and her family members.

In his statement, Mgaloblishvili confirmed that the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia would provide financial assistance to the family from its reserve fund.

“A profound tragedy has unfolded in Saberio. In such circumstances, it is incredibly difficult to find words that could offer solace to a family overwhelmed by such an immense loss. Today, I visited the grandmother of the deceased children at the Kutaisi Referral Hospital. Her physical condition is stable, though her emotional and psychological state remains critical.

It is of utmost importance that we stand by the Cholaria family during this difficult time and provide any possible support to alleviate their suffering. The Government of Abkhazia will allocate financial assistance from its reserve fund to address the family’s social rehabilitation needs and other essential requirements”, - said Levan Mgaloblishvili.

According to the Medical Director of the Kutaisi Referral Hospital, the patient is suffering from third- and second-degree burns. Her health condition is classified as moderate, though stable.

The fire that broke out on January 5 in the Cholaria family’s residence in the temporarily occupied village of Saberio, in the Gali district, tragically claimed the lives of 5 children.
