Ilia Darchiashvili meets Javier Colomina, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Caucasus and Central Asia

Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration was discussed at the meeting of the country’s Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, within the framework of the NATO 75th anniversary Summit in Washington.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conversation touched on the 75th anniversary summit and important issues to be discussed within its framework. It was noted that the participation of the Georgian delegation at the summit is another confirmation of the successful process of Georgia"s integration into NATO.

The parties discussed the issue of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration. It was emphasized that aspirant Georgia has always been a reliable partner of the alliance and has made a significant contribution to the strengthening of Euro-Atlantic security.

Georgia’s progress on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, including the strengthening of the country’s defense capabilities, was noted. The importance of both practical and political support from the side of the Alliance was emphasized.

The conversation touched on the ongoing processes in the region, the security environment, Russia’s war in Ukraine. It was noted that strengthening the security of the large Black Sea region will be a guarantee of peace and stability for the Euro-Atlantic space.

The parties agreed to continue active cooperation to achieve joint goals.
