Seminar on emergency and crisis coverage started for media representatives

Organized by the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), a seminar on emergency and crisis coverage is being held for media representatives.

Within the framework of the seminar, welcoming remarks were given by the Head of Emergency Management Service, Temur Mghebrishvili, Director of the Strategic Communications Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ketevan Kovziashvili, Programme Manager of the EU Delegation in Georgia, Ketevan Khutsishvili and Project Manager of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Elene Aladashvili.

Journalists from various TV companies, news agencies, and regional media are attending the seminar. Led by international experts, the training covers crucial topics such as the basics of crisis communication, the role of the media, international practice standards and protocols related to security, ethics and crisis communication, professional conduct rules, etc.

The seminar is carried out by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), with the financial support of the European Union, as part of the project – “Support to Advancing Technical Capacities for Ensuring Human Security”.

The project, which is part of the broader initiative “EU4 Safety, Accountability, and Fight Against Crime in Georgia (SAFE)”, has been implemented in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia since 2020. The primary objective of the project is to support the Government of Georgia in achieving the effectiveness and accountability of institutions in the security sector.
