Images have emerged of a university destroyed by a recent missile attack in the city of Kramatorsk, in the northern portion of the Donetsk region, writes Sky News.

During the summer, Russia’s grinding eastern offensive made little progress in Donetsk, but it succeeded in capturing almost all of neighbouring Luhansk, which with Donetsk makes up the Donbas region.

In recent weeks, Russia"s military has poured manpower and resources around the city of Bakhmut, in the Donetsk region, in an attempt to encircle the region.

Taking Bakhmut would rupture Ukraine"s supply lines and open a route for Russian forces to press on towards Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, key Ukrainian strongholds in Donetsk.
