Illegally detained by Russian occupation forces two Georgian citizens released – SSSG

Illegally detained by Russian occupation forces [in the village of Mejvriskhevi, near the occupied Tskhinvali region] two Georgian citizens had been released.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the hotline and other tools at the disposal of the Georgian government had been activated and the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions had been informed about the incident.

“The occupation forces were responsible for the destructive actions committed in Georgia’s occupied territories, as well as in the vicinity of the occupation line.

The central government, together with international partners, continued to work actively for the release of all Georgian citizens, who have been illegally detained, both in the occupied Tskhinvali and Abkhazia regions”, - reads the statement of the SSSG.
