Jaba Samushia has been elected acting rector of Tbilisi State University. It should be mentioned that he was the only candidate for the position.

The acting rector was elected by the Academic Council by secret ballot, with the majority of the members, for a term of no more than 6 months.

The process took place amidst a tense protest of students at the university. They gathered at the 107th auditorium demanded a change in the procedure for electing the rector, construction of dormitory for students and housing subsidy.
