The Prime Minister of Georgia praised today the “crucial role” of the country’s military retirees in comments marking the Veterans Day, and pledged a 5-time increase in their monthly supplements in pledging “continued support” from authorities.
Addressing the audience on the day, Irakli Garibashvili expressed his gratitude towards veterans for their service “protecting not only the motherland, but also international peace and security”.
Veterans Day has been celebrated in Georgia on October 17 since 2014. Currently almost 70 000 individuals are registered under this status in the common database of the State Service of Veteran Affairs. Participants of World War II (WWII), military activities held in Abkhazia and Samachablo in 1992-1993, August 2008 War and fights fought on the territory of other countries (Afghanistan, Hungary) are included in the referred database.
